I've become obsessed with different ancient mythologies.Norse mythology has always been a facination of mine, the very idea of the world being split in Nine and a tree of life simply appeals to me on a whole different level than anything else does. Odin being super wise and old with only one eye and still see everything. Thor with his hammer, driving across the skies in his chariot of goats, making thunder and lightning as he speeds the black dome. Balder and his kindness who was loved by all and who everybody except the mistletoe swore never to harm. Loke and his sneaky way of life, shapeshifting and tricking people into doing his bidding. The trolls and elves and ice giants. The gods and the people. Sometimes I wish I could believe it with my entire being. Other times I do.
Then there's the Greek gods. Powerful beings, images of perfect in a world of wonders. The gods from where beauty came from. Zeus and his horde of gorgeous deities doing his bidding. Heroes walking the earth, rescuing maidens and saving small children. Warriors of great strenght and courage. Temptresses doing what they do best in a world where people had no idea of how great it all was.
And then, more recently, I have discovered the Celtic myths and legends. A whole new set of gods to read about, new stories to be told, new dreams to think of. A history as old as any of the other ones, with old kings who became legends who became myths, wizards who lived amongst men. The beauty of this new mythology is just revealing itself to me and I am amazed. With thoughts of knights and swords I will delve into this new and wonderous world that has been hidden from my view. I will drown in stories and myths and legends, and I will come up on the other side as a dreamer. As I always do.
Up, up and away. Stay safe and be nice.
